Masters Of Our Destiny

Masters Festival 2019 This was a one day masters festival held on August 18, 2019 at Cassie Campbell in Brampton, Ontario for O35 Players. It was a joint effort by volunteer masters to continue to hold a masters tournament outside of Field Hockey Ontario after FHO cancelled its plan. Ilenna Tai of Durham FHC organized the clubs and individuals, Abi Mendonca of A&C Field Hockey Academy ran the tournament. Thank you for participating and making it such a success! Masters teams from all over Ontario showed up. For the women's division, we had Gladies, Strikers (Springfield +Halton) and Durham FHC. For the men, we had Rovers, Brampton, Kenny 11 and GT Durham. It was a beautiful day and the weather held up while masters danced to the music of the 70s and 80s between games. Surplus from the tournament was used towards free beers and snacks at the social, as well as a free souvenir shirt for every player. It has been very challenging organizing this new masters tournament, and we are so grateful that it got off the ground with all your help! We are so happy to hear back from the masters that they have thoroughly enjoyed this amazing day, meeting old friends and making new ones, playing their hearts out and finding that they can still do it like the good old days! We had hoped to make it an annual affair, but due to Covid, we will not be able to host it in 2020 and 2021. Co-ed Tournament 2019 This co-ed tournament organized by Zeeshan Minhas and the Dolphins was open to all ages, held at the York University. A mix of masters players and young players competed in heat humidex of mid 40s celcius, and everybody had a blast. This photo features players from Durham FHC and Toronto United
